  • Saved Inspirations: Text, screenshots, and metadata you choose to save from LinkedIn posts
  • Generated Content: LinkedIn posts and carousels you create using our tools

2. Information Collected via the Chrome Extension

When you use the magicscribe Chrome extension, we collect:

  • Saved Content: Text selections and screenshots you manually capture from LinkedIn (user-initiated only)
  • Source Metadata: URL, author name, and timestamp of saved inspirations
  • Authentication Tokens: Stored securely in Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage) to keep you logged in

IMPORTANT:

  • All captures are 100% user-initiated — we do NOT automatically collect or scrape any data
  • We do NOT access your LinkedIn credentials or account
  • We do NOT read, modify, or interact with LinkedIn on your behalf

3. Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage Data: Feature usage, timestamps, and error logs (via Sentry for crash reporting)
  • Browser Information: User agent, extension version
  • Authentication Events: Login, logout, and token refresh timestamps

How We Use Your Information

Content Services

  • Inspiration Library: Store and organize content you save for later reference
  • AI Content Generation: Use AI to help you generate LinkedIn posts and carousels based on your input
  • Content Scheduling: Schedule posts for publishing (when connected to LinkedIn)

Compliance & Security

  • Authentication: Securely manage your login sessions across extension and web app

Data Retention

Your Content

  • Saved Inspirations: Stored until you delete them
  • Generated Content: Stored until you delete them
  • Drafts: Stored until you publish or delete them

  • Activity Logs: Retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted
  • Error Logs: Retained for 30 days via Sentry

Manual Deletion

You can delete your data at any time:

  • Delete individual inspirations or content items
  • Delete all saved content from your account

  • User-Initiated Only: All actions require explicit user interaction (clicks, keyboard shortcuts)
  • No Automation: We do NOT auto-post, auto-like, auto-comment, or auto-follow
  • No Scraping: We do NOT scrape or crawl LinkedIn pages
  • No Account Access: We do NOT access your LinkedIn login credentials
  • Personal Use: Content tools are for your own content creation only

What Our Extension Does on LinkedIn

  • Adds a screenshot crop overlay when YOU click the capture button
  • Saves text YOU manually select via keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+S)
  • Shows small toast notifications to confirm your saves
  • That's it — no other modifications to LinkedIn pages

Chrome Extension Permissions

Our extension requests the following permissions:

  • storage: Save your preferences and authentication tokens locally
  • activeTab: Access the current tab when you click the extension icon
  • scripting: Inject the save/capture UI on LinkedIn pages
  • sidePanel: Provide a side panel interface for browsing inspirations
  • contextMenus: Add "Save to magicscribe" to your right-click menu
  • notifications: Show save confirmations
  • alarms: Schedule periodic token refresh checks
  • cookies: Read authentication cookies to sync login state
  • tabs: Open the web app when needed

Host Access

We only access these specific websites:

  • linkedin.com — To enable the save/capture features
  • magicscribe.app — To sync authentication with the web app

Security Measures

Data Protection

  • Encryption: All data transmitted via HTTPS/TLS
  • Secure Storage: Database encryption at rest
  • Token Security: Authentication tokens stored in Chrome's secure extension storage
  • Access Control: Limited employee access with audit logging
